Frequently Asked Questions....

Curious about permanent makeup? We are here to help!

What is Permanent Makeup?

Permanent Makeup is a cosmetic tattoo. It is cosmetic ink that is implanted into the skin to

enhance the shape and color of your Eyebrows, Lips, Freckles or Eyeliner. It  can mimic

makeup, or look extremely natual to the point where you do not look like you have a cosmetic

tattoo. It is different than a tattoo in the means of the type of ink used and the depth the ink is implanted. The ink used is semi-permanent. The depth that the ink implemented is more

shallow than a traditional tattoo. This is why Touch - Ups are so helpful. At the end of the day,

Permanent Makeup is a lifesaver so you longer have to worry about reapplying makeup,

smudgy makeup, or it washing/sweating off.

How long does Permanent Makeup last?

Permanent Makeup can last between 2-5 years. This, of course, depends on your skin type,

lifestyle, and how often you get Touch - Ups.

Does getting Permanent Makeup hurt?

No! At Stay Stunning, we use 2 different types of topical numbing creams to ensure your

comfort.

How long will my appointment take?

Your first service will take up to 3 or 3.5 hours. Your touchup service will take up to 2 or 2.5

hours.

How long will it take to heal?

The healing process for all services is 6 - 8 weeks. You are given a complimentary healing

guide that shows you the entire healing process from start to finish, so you know what to

expect after you receive your service. This comes in your complimentary aftercare kit, along

with a few products to use on the treated area until it is healed completely.

What are Touch-Ups and why are they required?

Touch - Ups are required at 6 weeks after your initial service to insure proper pigment retention.

They also give you the opportunity to add darker pigmentation or tweak the shape of your Brow,

Liner, or Lips. If you properly follow the aftercare, the pigment has the best chance at retaining

in the skin. When the aftercare is not properly followed (ex: the area gets wet with in the first 5

days, or the healing skin is picked at) the pigment retention will be poor. This is why aftercare is

SO IMPORTANT! Annual or Biannual Touch - Ups are great at maintaining the saturation and

prolong your wear for years to come.

Can you Microblade over Previous Permanent Makeup?

This is a case by case basis, but in most cases for covering previous permanent makeup the

answer is no. Microblading, while very beautiful, does not allow full coverage of the brow area

for a cover - up or correction. Meaning, if you have a previous powder brow, for example, and

we try to cover it with microblading, little spots of the old brow color can peek through the

microbladed areas. At Stay Stunning there is always a solution for every client, so set up a

complimentary consultation to get a solution specifically catered to you!

Who doesn't qualify for Permanent Makeup?

Any one who:

- Is not over 18 years of age

- Is currently pregnant or breast feeding

- Suffers from skin conditions such as psoriasis, skin lesions, skin cancers, rashes, blisters etc....

- Has Glaucoma

- Has high blood pressure or heart conditions. (Consult your doctor.)

- Is taking blood thinners such as Aspirin or similar medications. (Consult your doctor.)

- Is taking steroids such as Cortisone, Accutane, Retin-A or Renova.

Are Complimentary
Consultations offered in
person or over the phone?

Complementary Consultations are always offered to everyone over FaceTime & Zoom. If you are inquiring about a Color Correction or Cover - Up, in person consultations are highly recommended. In person consultations are always available upon request.

Why is Precare &
Aftercare so important?

Both Precare and Aftercare Instructions can be found here on the site by clicking "Documents" at the top of the page.

Precare instructions are so important because there are certain things to know and things to avoid prior to your appointment. When precare is followed properly, your service goes by smoother and sometimes faster. (Here's an example: Avoiding caffeine & alcohol 24hrs before your appointment is necessary because both cause the blood to thin. This leads to excess bleeding during the procedure, causing the artist to have to take extra time and skill to implant the pigment properly.)

Aftercare is just as important. You're given specific, yet easy instructions and complimentary products to ensure the best pigment retention possible. If, for example, you do not follow the instructions, the retention of pigment will not be up to our standards. (Here's an example: you just got home after your microblading appointment, and wet the treated area. That can cause the pigment to wash out- which we do not want!)

***Please always follow the Precare & Aftercare Instructions for best results ***
